| Hi, Has anyone found a remedy for not being able to activate the software. I've used it for almost a year with no problems and now I can't activate the license I guess.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mark |

| This is a very, very unfortunate development for Elicit. In the past...I have to say that support was timely and helpful for me anyway. And the program has really worked like a charm in managing multiple blogs. But I have to say it really looks like things are going into the tank for service and support...which is really just as important or more important than any value in the software. Attempts to email the company have resulted in non-delivery as well. So what gives??? If activation or license problems were as common for people as they appear to be in this forum...and I have to think more will come up for others...since I didn't update my pc, or change anything...it's just one day I couldn't activate the software after a year of using it...then the company should have notified everyone here or sent out some broad resolution. I certainly have hopes that I'll hear something back from support very soon as I do like Elicit alot...however I also must say that if others are doing research and considering buying the program at this time, I would hold off until the issue of poor response time get's resolved...there's no guarantee that your program will work tomorrow. Best wishes, Mark |

| I am also having the same problem... can't activate. I posted a help request on 10/3/2006 but have heard nothing. I emailed them and it bounced back. I think we may have good reason for a refund. The software is unusable and the tech support unresponsive.

| I am having the same problem. I just purchased the software and can't use it because of this activation problem. My email to support bounced. Now that I joined this forum and read that this problem has been ongoing for quite sometime now, it is quite upsetting. I hope they will come up with a solution VERY SOON!!!!! Phil |

| I even went one further... I paid by paypal so I thought I could ask for a refund. I can't get one due to the situation not meeting the refund criteria.
I don't think anyone is home right now. It's a shame because of the potential of software. This is the first and last time I buy software before I give it a test run. |

| Has anyone been successful at contact or a refund since? I want to reinstall windows on my computer, but if I do, I won't be able to re-activate the software.
thanks, PuReWebDev

| Sorry that it didn't work for ya. I tried it and it worked the first time for me. I am using windows xp sp2. I like elicit but maybe not enough to buy another license just so I can try it again to make sure it will work. However, as another option you could try putting the elicit license server URL in the "trusted zone". You can test by navigating to the license server address. If you dont get the warning about the expired cert then you should try to license elicit again. Essentially what needs to happen is that you need to be able to surf to the license server web page w/o getting the expired cert notice. Hope that helps. Let me know if it does and i'll update my posting for others. -Rick

| Thanks. Tried that too, and here's what I got when attempting to activate: A valid license could not be obtained for x5731f59d3a4a0f66. Please contact Bingo Bango Software, Inc. for assistance. DETAILS: Could not activate license with https://secure.bingobangosoftware.com/Elicit/Activation/ActivationServer.asmx: The license was already activated on another machine. The license can only be reactivated on the same machine it was originally activated from. So I tried to continue without activation, whereupon I got this interesting bit: A valid license could not be obtained for x5731f59d3a4a0f66. Please contact Bingo Bango Software, Inc. for assistance. DETAILS: Unexpected error. Invalid trial date range. No licenses found in c:\programme\elicit\. Could not validate (or skipped) C:\Programme\Elicit\Elicit.exe.licenses.523991 (#ELICIT-... MY REG CODE HERE ...) - Could not activate license with https://secure.bingobangosoftware.com/Elicit/Activation/ActivationServer.asmx: The license was already activated on another machine. The license can only be reactivated on the same machine it was originally activated from. --> The clock has been rolled back. (Reg code details edited.) Maybe it might work with some nifty registry tweaks, but then again: is it really worth the hassle? I mean: Just Like others here, I find Elicit quite neat but not enough so to pay for another license - esp. in view of the fact that support seems to have dropped from the face of the earth, meaning that the program's probably a dead duck in terms of further development, bug fixes, etc. A pity, really - obviously just another nice try ... Anyway, thanks again for your help. |
